Guide to Standard Photo Print Sizes
Reference tables for photo print sizes and paper sizes, in inches, centimetres and millimetres.
Standard photographic sizes (R series). The size is written as nR, where n is the shorter side in inches. 4R is 4 x 6 inches. Up to 10R the longer side is 2 inches longer than the shorter side; the S sizes (S8R, S10R, S12R) have the 2:3 shape of most camera and phone photos.

A Series International Paper Sizes
A sizes are the international paper standard. Each size is half the one before it and they all share the same proportions, so a photo cropped for A4 also fits A3 or A2.

Frequently asked questions about photo sizes
The most common photo size is 4R, 4 x 6 inches (10.2 x 15.2 cm). It is not too small and not too big, most frames and albums are made for it, and its 2:3 shape matches photos from most digital cameras and phones, so nothing is cropped.
Image size usually means the pixel dimensions of the file, also called its resolution. On Windows, right-click the file and choose Properties, then Details. On a Mac, select the file and press Cmd + I. For a sharp print, divide the pixels by 300 to get the largest size in inches, or drop the photo into our Print Size Calculator.
One inch is 2.54 cm. Photo sizes are named in inches, so we have converted them to centimetres and millimetres in the tables above.
A wallet size photo is about 2.5 x 3.5 inches, which is a 2R print. It is slightly bigger than a credit card.
